Beef & Pork - Organically Raised, Pasture Grazed

Our Beef is available throughout the year. Our MOFGA certified cattle are on pasture eating grass during the grazing season, have access to the outdoors and certified organic hay 365 days a year, and enjoy a very small organically certified grain ration to ensure proper mineral consumption while we work to improve the soil health of our newly acquired farmland. Our lack of access to organically certified processing means we can’t label them as organic once they’re “off the hoof”.

We carry an assortment of beef cuts at prices ranging from $8.50-$20.00 per pound. Examples include tenderloin, rib eye, and porterhouse as well as some roasts (top round and chuck).

Ground beef and stew steak is available now for $8.50 per pound

Steaks - each approx. .5-1 pound, $9.99-$16.99 per pound

Pork - The piglets are born in Maine and come right to their pasture and woodland home here at Grace Pond Farm. They are fed a soy-free diet consisting of (organically certified) grain, milk and whey from our dairy and our creamery friends, and forage through the roots, shoots and tree lines of our pastures. They are the best rototillers and are helping us to reclaim fields lost to time and neglect. Follow our Instagram and Facebook pages for photos of their amazing work.

Available by the half or whole pig, as well as by the cut in the Barn Store.

Sausage (breakfast, garlic, chorizo, maple) - $8.50 /lb

Ground Pork - $8.50/lb

Chops - $9.50/lb

Smoked Ham Steaks - $9.00/lb

Smoked Bacon - $12.00/lb

And more!

1/2 and whole pigs:

The pigs usually come in at between 200-225 hanging weight, so that will be 125-155 pounds of meat from a whole pig, and 60-80 pounds from a half pig. They are $5.10/pound (whole pig) and $5.30/pound (half pig) hanging weight. Processing (including the cryo-seal packaging) is included in the hanging weight price.

How much bacon?? You can expect 15 to 20 pounds of bacon per whole pig depending on the other cuts ordered.

**Smoking reduces the volume of meat significantly - be prepared to be surprised**

Organically certified dairy

Our MOFGA Organically Certified dairy herd grazes all season long, and can often be found lounging in the pastures here in Thomaston. A great mix of Normande and Jersey, these mamas make creamy, high protein milk that can be found in your favorite local cheeses, yogurts, and bottles! We breed for A2A2 genetics when possible, but we do not do genetic testing and cannot say with confidence what percentage of our herd is A2A2.

Available in Glass Bottles at the Barn Store on the farm - join the Glass Bottle Club!

1/2 Gallon BPA free plastic - raw, organically certified milk - $5.00

Available in BPA-free plastic half gallons at a store near you! Don’t see GPF milk on the shelves? Ask at the counter for the dairy buyer to connect with us to carry your favorite raw milk. Look for the GPF milk label!

A note about PFAS

Here at Grace Pond Farm we feel incredibly lucky to farm fields that were not spread with a source of contamination, and to have a herd of animals who have not been exposed to PFAS contamination in detectable amounts. We buy in feed from organically certified farms in Maine, and we are in constant communication with those farmers about the historic spreading near their properties, and any updated information they may have about their products. We have had our milk, and our feed, tested and are grateful to be safe at this time. We will continue to diligently monitor the situation, and the sourcing of our inputs.

In the meantime, we want to reiterate that local food is still the best and safest food. Maine is ahead of the curve in identifying and addressing this issue and we can be certain that as other areas of the country begin to investigate, there will be significant contamination found across our food system - this will inevitably include large agribusinesses who may not readily share exposure data with consumers as quickly as your farming neighbors do. Supporting our Maine farmers during this time is crucial - we work hard to provide you with safe, clean, healthy food and this is the same food that we put on our own tables with the confidence that we are a part of the solution.
